I’ve always wanted a “Recently Played” list in my sidebar. While meandering around the web last month, I found a brilliant solution which utilizes the Do Something Winamp plugin to send Trackback pings to a particular category. After throwing a little PHP into the mix, I now have what I’d like to call a sidebar “audioblog.” Now everytime I play a song in Winamp, the list in my sidebar updates, giving you, dear reader, a peek into the kind of music I’m interested in at that particular moment. Too bad the plugin only works with Winamp 2.x. I tried to install the Winamp 2 plugin manager in my copy of Winamp 3, but it just didn’t perform well in that environment.

To keep things neat, I’m going to install the RemovePings MT plugin, so I can clear old trackback pings and thus prevent my database from getting too bloated.

I’m glad I was able to make it work.
