Amit Agarwal, a blogger in India, saw my Flickr photoset, “How to make an anti-GMA shirt” and liked the idea of using Flickr photosets as step-by-tep tutorials. While I did come up with the concept on my own — that is, I had not seen or heard of a “photoset tutorial” before — I knew I was not a pioneer. I thought: “C’mon, let’s face it, there are thousands of other geeks out there who’ve thought of this.” I sifted through the Flickr tags tutorial, howto, and diy and confirmed my suspiscion.
Here are just a few of the Flickr photoset tutorials I found:
- How to cook Whateversonmyfridge [sic] Pasta Dish
- Photoshop tutorial: how to remove an unwanted background and replace it with a nicer one
- How to make an iPod Wallet
- How to make a Hipster PDA Pen Holder [What a Hipster PDA is]
- How to make paper
- How to make a Monotype Print
- How to make an iPod Shuffle armband
- How to Screen print
